a very big project

We are celebrating Eric Carle this month! While enjoying his wonderful books and artwork, I have encouraged the children to explore their creativity in this fun, collaborative class project.
After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we covered our table with paper and used a variety of tools to paint with, including: several different kinds of brushes, rollers, scrapers, and of course our hands.
Sometimes hands are all you need...
Time to dry...
We then cut our paper into circles and created our giant class caterpillar. We used our small and large motor skills, as well as discussed colors, shapes and texture. But at the heart of this activity is the objective that the children will have an enjoyable, hands-on experience with literature, which will build language and literacy skills.
