activities in pre-k

Every morning our classroom is set up to offer a variety of activities...
There is a sensory exploration area (flour and sifters.)
There is an independent focus area (pinwork.)
There is a math concept area (the colored links that can be made into chains.)
There is a place for early literacy development (placing rocks on the letter lines.)
There is a science and observation topic (our pumpkin is starting the stages of decomposition so to help it along we are hammering and pushing golf tees into the sides.)

We learn through the process of doing whether it is slipping our hands into flour, pushing pins into cork board as we follow the curves of letters, lines, and shapes, or connecting a chain link by link by link.
