A Feast for Our Senses!

We explored many different sensory activities this week.

Our light table was a treat for our eyes where we discovered prisms and kaleidoscopes.  The children started to refer to the light table as the "Color Table."
We used our fingers to draw shapes, letters and numbers into hot chocolate powder. The children absolutely loved this activity and could not get enough of it. Who doesn't like a little chocolate in their learning and play?
The children enjoyed rolling out our candy cane Playdough and took great pleasure in the peppermint smell it brought to their hands. Here is our recipe for you!

 Candy Cane Playdough
 *2 cups water
*2 cups flour
*1 cup salt
*4 teaspoons cream of tartar
*4 tablespoons oil
*4 tablespoons peppermint extract
*red food coloring (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of  the pan. Form dough into a ball, place on waxed paper, and cool completely.  Store in Ziplock bags.
