Fine Motor Skills Practice

At this point in our school year, the children are ready for some focused work, doing many activities that require fine motor skill and strength. These are pre-writing skills...and they're lots of fun to engage in!  I offered bead stringing on uncooked linguine noodles, pin work, where the children poked  pushpins on cork boards, pompom pick ups with chopsticks and chalk on chalk boards.
These activities require concentration and the desire to do 'careful' work.  You'll see this focus on many of the students' faces.  Normally a three and four year old classroom is quite loud, but during these activities, the noise level is reduced...music (or silence!) to my ears!
