Itsy Bitsy Spider

This week in the Toddler class was all about having fun with spiders! First, we broke out our salad spinners to create spooky spider webs. The children squeezed some white paint down onto black paper and gave the salad spinner several pumps. They all delighted each time the lid was lifted to reveal a unique version of a spider web.

We also had a lot of fun with our new song of the week, “There’s a Spider on the (Square).” Each child was given a plastic spider to hold and several shapes were placed on the floor in front of them. Then, I would sing the song, changing the shape each time I sang it. The children would then crawl their spider the appropriate shape on the floor. Who knew shape recognition could be so fun!
