P is for Pumpkin

This week I introduced our unit on pumpkins. We started with a pumpkin hunt around the classroom where each pumpkin had a different number on it. This is a perfect example of learning through play. The children delighted in the fun of the activity, as well as, worked on their number recognition.

We also learned that pumpkin starts with the letter “P.” We practiced making the “P” sound and thought of other words that started with the letter. Then we got messy with sponge painting our pumpkins orange.
