We are so pleased to provide a once a week music program to our students led by Mrs. Danielle. PreK is having a blast with all the songs she teaches us. This week we learned "Flutter, Flutter Little Bat" which is sung to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Our music mornings begin with a good morning or welcome song then Mrs. Danielle offers time for practicing chants and finger plays while alternating with time to dance and move around the room. She shares instruments with students like egg shakers and resonator bells.
We also practice walking in a circle, changing tempo and volume during songs, and keeping rhythm. The class really enjoys the "Freeze!" dance and time for free dancing when they can move however they choose.
We spent this week talking more about pumpkins and students created a chain craft to remind them of the pumpkin life cycle. This craft was multi step and it included skills like coloring, cutting, using a glue stick, and sequencing. Everyone was very proud of their final creation.
We cut open a few pumpkins and we are going to count the seeds in order to answer the question, how many seeds in a pumpkin? We also read a book titled, "How Many Seeds In A Pumpkin?" by Margaret McNamara to support this math exploration activity. Next week we should have our answer!
