During the first few weeks of the school year the children learn our schedule and routine and have begun to develop sweet friendships. They are very busy, interested in touching everything, riding every bike and car, diving into the different sensory material available and re-reading the books I present at group time.
We learned a lot about bees....we tasted honey, examined a honeycomb, painted bee pictures, made a bee headband and assembled a bee repeating pattern with unifix cubes.
The children practiced strengthening their fine motor skills by squeezing play dough, tearing paper strips, and mastering the use of plastic eye droppers.
Outside play is very popular. The children love digging in the sand, playing on the climbing structure and jumping off the big boulders. In the Courtyard, the water table is very popular as well as building with blocks and playing with the plastic animals. The children run through the courtyard, playing 'chase' games and 'hide n seek'.
The focus for October will be seasonal changes, apple mania, lovely leaves and friends, friends, friends!
